Walters finishes 5th at OFSAA cross-country; Trojans senior boys just miss bronze
medals as a team Posted By By Nugget Staff Updated 4 days ago Matt Walters and his West Ferris Trojans senior boys cross-country teammates earned fourth place at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association championships, Saturday. Led by Walters and his brother Nick, the Trojans finished with a total of 205 points, five points behind the bronze medal winners from Sir Winston Churchill of St. Catharines (200). Teams are ranked by the total of the their top four runners. Matt Walters placed fifth overall in the senior boys race, finishing the 7,000-metre course in a time of 21 minutes and 7.7 seconds. Mohammed Ahmed of St. Catharines Collegiate won the division in a time of 20:42.2, 25.5 seconds ahead of Walters. Nick Walters finished 40th (22:27.0), Alex Espinosa of Chippewa was 60th (22:50.4), followed by West Ferris duo Josh Karn (75th at 23:11.0) and Kevin Perry (85th at 23:19.2). Benoit Boulay (23:28.3) of Algonquin rounded out the top local senior boys with a 98th-place finish. |
